As Easy as Riding a Bike? Dawn Foster's Fully Justified Safety Concerns On London's Roads

I've just read Dawn Foster's excellent open letter to the Mayor of London on why she is giving up cycling in the city. In short, a very experienced cyclist who used to cycle on 30 miles of busy roads a day, no longer feels safe cycling on the streets of London. Dawn mentions three areas on her latest commute that have led to her to give up cycling. The Elephant and Castle roundabout, Blackfriars Bridge and Kings Cross.

Looking at the map of cycling accidents in those three areas, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who could disagree with the three sites Dawn has picked out for criticism.

Each one of the dots below is an accident involving a cyclist between 2005 and 2010.
